i must admit to not being a slave to trends — when i find something i like, i like it regardless of how others might see it. and i’ll keep doing it, whatever *it* is, until it no longer works for me!

yet. i think i am beginning to see a trend i could easily fall in love with — meshing city life with growing things. getting back to the earth, going beyond the herbs on a windowsill and creating a lifestyle that is more naturally encompassing of what nurtures us day to day.

like, wouldn’t it be nice to pick vegetables from your apartment balcony? or harvest herbs on your lunch hour? relax in a hammock in your greenhouse? find or create a piece of nature in the middle of your cement jungle? have a living wall in your apartment? or even, have a farm on your apartment building roof?! how would YOU incorporate ‘green’ into your liffe?

having your day to day life mesh with agriculture might seem overly daunting, or idealistic. i believe the projects here are a sign of things to come, and changes we are making in our lives.

okay, this is COOL. bucking horse farm in ft. collins is at the forefront in blending farming with subdivisions. it is designed around “fulfilling the hunger for community.” the historic johnson farm is the working farm where you will be able to order your CSA (community supported agriculture) baskets. there are community gardens to grow your own food. your life is designed around living a healthy lifestyle, and your home (or townhome) is in the midst of it!
