“there are many aspects to success; material wealth is only one component. Moreover, success is a journey, not a destination.

“… success also includes good health, energy and enthusiasm for life, fulfilling relationships, creative freedom, emotional and psychological stability, a sense of well-being, and peace of mind.”

To Deepak’s FABULOUS definition, I would add having emotional and professional challenges through which to grow.

what would you add? what is your definition of success?

I sat down on the front stoop joining Jax in the survey of his neighborhood domain from our front lawn and started thinking about success (something I’ve been struggling with a bit lately).

because, what IS success? Henry had a successful first day of middle school and he is going to shine. Bob and I helped him celebrate as our family does, a journey to DQ to relax and catch up. Bob had a good day at work and his students pulled off a decent breakfast meal. i had iced coffee with good girlfriends and we shared sunshine and stories of our lives. I can sit here and rub Jax and love on him. we had another amazing summer tomato meal that was once again camera worthy.

we all have good health. we love each other. we have a full refrigerator, cars that run well, a beautiful home — our lives don’t suck. our lives are pretty damn good.

and poof! just like that my struggle gets put into perspective. yes, life will continue to be its journey, more will come. more trials, more joy, more growth, more lessons & learning.

it circles around again to simply being grateful for ALL of this journey … every moment, circumstance, person, place & animal in it.

i get to stay aware, keep growing, remember that the ‘best things in the world aren’t things,’ be here now, and COME FROM LOVE.

maybe success just equals love  :)

do go get yourself some success today, howEVER you define it … it feels good!   sandy
